I was born in the Bay Area, California. Lived there for eight years. Then we lived in the hilly and grassy foothills of Colorado for about eight years. Then I lived in Minnesota for about eight years. The last year or so was spent in Arizona! Now I live in Minnesota and deliver pizza for Domino's about 50 hours a week. Most of the rest of that is spent in various computerized, digital pursuits such as games, writing, and music!
Here's a blurb I wrote that covers a little something about me. This was attached to a game submitted to the Independent Games Festival (www.igf.com)
Shane Wegner, 27, is an avid gamer who started playing games at about Age 3, when his father brought home from work huge IBM “portable” computers with fold-down keyboards and all-green screens and taught him the DOS commands needed to start space invaders. He started playing games “for real” when his mother eventually gave in and allowed him to buy a Nintendo Entertainment System. Soon thereafter he would entertain his friends by being able to sing or whistle any tune from a mental library of hundreds of NES titles. Once his family bought a PC, his conversion to the Game Side was complete.
Shane grew up during the age of SimCity, Populous, and Super Mario Brothers 3, while being young enough to have all the time in the world to play them. (Minus time wasted at school.) This left him with 6000+ hours of gaming stored safely in his memory and a desire to synthesize the best of these memories into new games the world had never before seen. The public schools had enough of a music program to further his musical knowledge as well. Today he seeks to design amazing new worlds while also composing the music to help bring these worlds to life. His game designer heroes are Sid Meier, Will Wright, Shigero Miyamato and Peter Molyneux.
